Little Amal is a 12-foot puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee girl who has traveled across 13 countries, meeting more than a million people in person and tens of millions more online. In fall 2023, she walked 6,000 miles across the United States as part of one of the largest free public festivals ever created. Across 35 towns and cities from Boston to San Diego, more than 1,000 artists and arts organizations collaborated to produce 100+ events welcoming her.
In collaboration with The Walk and Cause Lab, I created the original design concept, initial visual direction, and first design iteration for the project’s key art. The final design was later refined collaboratively with designers Rachel Wild and Aashi Jhaveri, under the direction of Art Director Amir Nizar Zuabi.
